I’m hiring a part-time studio assistant! Which just seems so unreal but wonderful. Seven years ago I started my business. And two years ago I began the transition from wedding photography to fine art. When you have to do everything yourself, you get very used to doing it all yourself and doing it well. And it can be hard to let some of it go.
But as my business has grown I am required to dedicate more and more time to tasks that take me away from creating artwork. Because slow living and relationships are a higher priority to me than work, I have simply tried to accomplish what I can within the confines of my work hours. And this has worked just fine… up until recently.
This summer things have gone to a whole other level, and I know the holidays will be even more insane. I have a feeling that I am getting to the point where I can’t do it all myself anymore and don’t want to get burnt out trying. With this in mind, bringing on an assistant seemed the obvious thing to do. And I am excited to grow the studio this way.
Part-time in-person studio assistant. The studio assistant will be responsible for tasks like packaging artwork, placing orders, shipping artwork, etc. Required to be in the studio 3 – 4 hours per week with potential additional hours during the holidays and in the new year.
The studio assistant’s job will be to aid me in small (but very important) tasks so that I can have more time to create artwork. The role has the potential to grow as the needs of the studio grows.
I create artwork to invite others to slow down, savor the beautiful, and remind them of their human-ness. The core values of my studio are wonder, creativity, quietness, peace, and stability. Everything from my artwork to social media posts, to packaging, has these values and qualities. If you have a similar mindset and thrive working independently, you’d be a great fit for this position.
